Walter Brueggemann

Old Testament Scholar

Walter Brueggemann is William Marcellus McPheeters Professor of Old Testament Emeritus at Columbia Theological Seminary and one of the most prolific and widely read Hebrew Bible scholars of the past half century. Though he writes from a mainline Protestant location, his Theology of the Old Testament, The Prophetic Imagination, and his work on the Psalms are widely used and engaged in evangelical seminaries, especially on lament, prophetic critique, and the practice of sabbath.
