Tim Keller

Pastor, Author & Theologian (1950–2023)

Timothy Keller (May 23, 1950 – May 19, 2023) was the founding pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Manhattan and co-founder of The Gospel Coalition, becoming one of evangelicalism's most influential voices in the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. A pastor, apologist, theologian, and author, Keller modeled "winsome witness"—engaging contemporary culture with intellectual rigor and pastoral compassion while maintaining biblical conviction.

His New York Times bestselling books—The Prodigal God (2008) and The Reason for God (2008)—shaped evangelical thinking about grace, apologetics, and faith in a skeptical age. Through Redeemer's ministry, Redeemer City to City (training pastors globally), and his prolific writing, Keller demonstrated how Reformed theology addresses contemporary urban life and cultural challenges. His death on May 19, 2023, at age 72 from pancreatic cancer marked the end of a remarkable ministry that continues to influence evangelicals worldwide.
