R.C. Sproul

Theologian & Teacher

Robert Charles Sproul (1939-2017) was an American Reformed theologian, Christian apologist, and Presbyterian pastor who profoundly shaped evangelical theology and practice. Founder and first chairman of Ligonier Ministries, Sproul established a platform for expository teaching and theological education that reached millions through his daily Renewing Your Mind radio broadcast and extensive published work.

Described as "the greatest and most influential proponent of the recovery of Reformed theology in the last century," Sproul authored more than one hundred books including The Holiness of God, which exemplifies his gift for making profound theological concepts accessible to popular audiences. His death on December 14, 2017, at age 78, marked the end of a legacy that continues to influence evangelical understandings of God's sovereignty, holiness, and redemptive work.
