Matthew Stanford
Matthew S. Stanford is the chief executive officer of the Hope and Healing Center & Institute in Houston and adjunct professor of psychiatry at Baylor College of Medicine and Houston Methodist Hospital's Institute for Academic Medicine. He earned his doctorate in behavioral neuroscience at Baylor University and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.
Stanford has worked clinically with patients struggling with aggression, personality disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, substance dependence, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia, and his research on the interplay between psychology and faith has been featured in The New York Times, USA Today, and Christianity Today. His writing equips pastors and churches to support those with serious mental illness without abandoning either clinical realism or biblical hope.
