Kevin Vanhoozer
Kevin J. Vanhoozer (born 1957) is research professor of systematic theology at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, where he holds the Research Professorship of Systematic Theology. He has previously taught at the University of Edinburgh, Trinity (where he held the Blanchard Chair) and Wheaton College Graduate School, and is one of the most influential contemporary evangelical voices on hermeneutics and theological method.
Vanhoozer's work develops a "canonical-linguistic" theology—an approach that treats theology as an ongoing dramatic engagement with the canon of Scripture rather than primarily a system of propositions. His Is There a Meaning in This Text? and The Drama of Doctrine reframe debates about authorial intent, postmodern hermeneutics, and the role of doctrine in the church's life.
