Jack Deere

Jack Deere is a former cessationist professor of Old Testament at Dallas Theological Seminary who, after experiencing what he describes as a fresh encounter with the Spirit, became a leading evangelical voice for continuationism. His Surprised by the Power of the Spirit and Surprised by the Voice of God laid out a biblical case for the present-day operation of spiritual gifts. His memoir Even in Our Darkness recounts decades of personal grief alongside a continuing pursuit of Christ.
